The simple fact remains that the ftp server which is hosting files is crap, use something professional like glftpd. We should not have to disable our firewalls to login to an ftp server. Every other ftp server works fine except the ones which install crap badly programmed ftp daemons.

Use ANY ftpd which supports PASSIVE mode FTP connections which most people have to use these days unless they are still on 56k MODEM!.

Sorry for the rant but its like going back a step..

If your the site admin and are running the ftp daemon on a unix based machine then checkout http://www.glftpd.org

As a side note the ftp server used to work with passive ftp clients so obviously the software has changed at the server end. Whatever FTP client people use behind firewalls will not work unless they disconnect their firewall which in most cases is rather annoying..

using g6 :)and if you cant handle it then goto........ oh yeah the average amount of users aka logins a week is over 100.000 so if you are having problems you might consider looking at who is on line or how many etc.. if you are using a client that can access those types of commands..

its a nice server, im from germany and its fast for me, ppl should know how to use a ftp server. UKC knows it too, to rip the cheats lol. MPC is very thankfull to Mystro for this great server.

U can forget other ones, have u see the lot of downloads and traffic?

Whenever I open any zip file downloaded from MPC, there's no files in them. I've tryed opening them with winzip 8.0 and winzip 8.1 but they wont work.

Winrar and FlashFXP and have no problems (i also like IE Ftp browser too that works :) )

I'm going to add a bit to what VF said, there are heaps of FTP clients around that you can use, however, its pretty much up to your own choice. The disarming or disabling of your firewall is something that I wouldn't recommend if you have firewalls that are based on program and checking them off. Good examples of those firewalls are, zone alarm/zone alarm pro and Norton Internet Security. All you have to do there is to allow them to access the internet, simple as that. Disabling/disarming your firewall is a risk in most cases, but there shouldn't be too much of a problem (all problems about firewalls and ftp, direct them to technical forum).

Imo, the worsest ftp client you can ever get is IE built in ftp client, its slow and doesn't feature too much overall control, so if you choose IE as your ftp client, be patient.

As for those who complains about our one dedicated ftp server, I have one quote for you: "Serve, leech or get lost". Means you either serve or you take whatever you want without complaining or you get out of here and never come back because we don't want complaints just because we got one dedicated server and that user is very kind to let us share files. Those who serve, I will be gladly to teach you how to serve and not complain about our dedicated servers. Otherwise, grab whatever you want and enjoy, don't come back and start complaining about this and that. If you have the bandwidth, if you have the time, do some serving. Help this community and this type of service out rather than abusing it.

ANYWAYS LOL ftp server bandwidth is only a 384/384 connection if you wish to donate.. enough per month to accellerate it to something like 768/768 ther should be no problem with ftp.. but currently the ip address 208.26.255.51 aka mystros.com---no web page running for your convience....site is running three computers always online doing different things.. my next store neighbor which i hooked in to my line is forking 50 us. dollars a month... which is currently a third of the bill only... so its only fair to allow bandwidth to him...etc.. ftp users aka downloaders use my bandwidth more than myself most of the time..im only on line fisicaly about 5 hours per day.. Lately of course... other projects like bills repairing cars..working... yardwork... getting away from the house... on and on and on...So Enjoy while you can :P

all those whom want to start serving ftp's or can afford to share and run their computers 24/7 message dark-blaze woolf or dark... and let them know...

port number is the default of 21.

well i have tried to connect with smartFTP and aceFTP and it wont connect with either

this was with actFTP just then, i tried about 6 times to no luck

and now this with smartFTP

and its not my firewall cos i connected to some other ftp sites just to check and they all works fines for me its just this one i cant seem to be able to connect to..........

I sometimes get this problem, its a problem with the lag coming from the server and you are timing out, the only solution i know is try to access the FTP using IE.

nah tried using IE, i also thinks thats it has something to do with the facts im in a country far far aways from the srver so i am most likely got a pings to it of 1400ms or somethings

It goes up and down all the time, some people can connect to it and some cant. Most likely nothing at your end...

The FTP will be back up shortly (ie within 1 week), we now have Unlimited bandwidth for the FTP from a company called AMweb.co.uk who are also offering a % of all business generated through MPC to go into a fund for extra hosting/domains should we need them.

i have been trying for like 2 weeks now to get on the cheat download page and still nothing......ok so im a noob

but i have read the forums and tryed altering my ie settings as instructed, i have disable by firewall and evn tryed using aceHTML 5 pro ....which by the way reports the download link as a bad link... :(

how the hell do you get to the downloads?

I will explain yet again ...................

the people that i use to host the FTP server have for some strange reason decided that we are promoting Warez/hacks and that we are breaking copyright laws by posting cheats on the FTP.

As all here (who have been here a while) know, MPC does NOT condone warez, key-gens etc, etc and the licences within the games do not cover them from the activties we engage in.
I have pointed this out to the host company, along with a threat of action from RIPE NCC or ICANN.
I am awaiting their decision to see what further action we can take..... they are just being really slow getting their act together and giving me a reply.

If all goes as i hope then the FTP will be back up ASAP.
If not we will have to move hosts (again)

Please be patient as i am chasing as hard as i can to get this resolved.
