I have a 32mb NVIDA TNT2 M64 apg card.....if I upgraded to a G-Force 3 or 4 ti 32mb or 64mb,would there be a great difference in the cards.....if so what ?:) Thanks for the help...........

of course there is a difference .. first look TNT2 can only support around 1GB or less of information -- geforce 4 can take upto 5-6GB .. therefore faster gameing etc
geforce 4 is newer with better drivers tweaks so it can maximise the usage of the card where as TNT2 is older and cant really be maximised
just to say .. now days TNT2 isnt in the competitions anymore

first of all it is AGP ....
kRaZy_LoWa
11th July 2002, 15:27
yep VF is correct, most graphics cards are AGP now because AGP=acellerated graphics port, which is a port made for graphic cards !

but there's difference in 2x agp and 4x agp :) 4x is much better or twice as faster :)

11th July 2002, 17:13
yep but since its a "G-Force 3 or 4 ti 32mb or 64mb" that he is geting it should be AGP 4x, with 64DDR ram.
overall upgrading to geforce 3/4 is worth it

geforces are also available in pci too the agp is better but if ya dont have a agp slot ya can at least get a secent card without buyin a new mobo too, plus pci cards are cheaper. and the tnt is ancient lol it isnt even clise to the chart.... KH

VisionTek Xtasy Geforce4 Ti 4400 rated better than PNY Verto Geforce4 Ti 4600... But VisionTek Xtasy Geforce4 Ti 4600 is the best one and is better than both!

More RAM for your video card, more better (or faster) on your pc. Think of RAM on video cards for RAM for your pc, the more ram you have, the more you can buffer, the more smoother it runs, etc. Thought at the stake of the pricing, its not too bad to consider about getting bigger amounts of RAM for your video card.

IMO GeForce3 cards right now seem like the best buy if you are on a budget... i got mine (upgraded from a tnt2 ultra) GeForce3 Ti200 for like $80 US. DONT get the GeForce4 MX cards, the Ti GeForce3 are better. But if you're out to get the best card out there, wait for the ATI 9700 to release. The design will use not just 4x AGP, but 8x AGP, ergo, doubling the speed of the GeForce4 Ti4600

GeForce Ti 4600 from Leadtek is still the best choice for me ( powerfull, fast, not SO expensive )

well wouldn't that mean a new motherboard also since I know most motherboard (at least when I got my PC) came compatable with 4x APG slots not 8x APG slots so.... to get the full performance from the ATI 9700 would mean getting a new MotherBoard also..... hmmm looks like it'll be alot LESS expensive to get a geforce4 (plus GeForce cards were more stable and more frequently updated in the past then the ATI card so.... it might still be a better deal)

sure u have to get MOBO that supports 8x AGP... u can't use 2 CPUs on a mobo that have place only for one ;) (just a bad example)

If you are looking for the best deal on any computer stuff, go to http://www.pricewatch.com/ thats where i got my GeForce3 Ti200 for 82 bucks :) and i didnt hear anything about that... i heard that it makes it 8x agp internally on the card and will require DX9 support... so i assume the ATI9700 will come out when DX9 officially releases. I didnt hear about using another mobo

I just want a damn better card than this peice of sh*t TnT2 32 MB...but i want something 4 times as large (128 MB) So that i can compensate for all my losses, all i find are really expensive cards which i know my mom won't let me buy, not to mention i probably won't even be getting a new card for 3 months or so (did i mention this already?) :(

if you're looking for a chepa card get the GeForce3 Ti 500 it's about $100 at pricewatch and although it's only 64MB not 128 it's alot cheaper then the GeForce4 Ti 4600 with 128Mb of ram, although I do think they have 128Mb versions of the GF3 Ti 500 but they are more expensive then the 64Mb version (naturally)

and if you are on a really tight budget, go for the ATI9000. Great card for $70
