1984???

First I'd like to say that, I mean no offence to you wooolF since you've been doing a great job with the forums (I would never want to have to do as much work as you do). And I have to say that I love some of the new features that you have implemented but... (here comes the point of this post :p )

I would like to ask everyone who has at one time or another read George Orwell's book "1984" if this forum reminds them of anything.

Basically I mean the whole "Big Brother Is Watching You" thing I do have to say that some of the new features might be for security reasons and I simply don't understand but... at the same time the "Thought Police" in "1984" was also a security measure.

All I would like to say is maybe we should think if all the security features in this forum are actually needed. I'm not forcing anything but... c'mon don't you think that we've gone a bit too far with the security. I'm thinking that if the whole internet is hacked only this forum will stay safe cause noone will be able to get into it :p.

Anyways these were just a few of my thoughts on this matter, as I already said I'm not forcing anything so... if this is way off just ignore me please.

BTW I would like to see some other peoples' thoughts on the same subject so if you don't mind post some comments.

well for one thing I mean all the "I'm watching your ass" things and knowing which thread each user is looking at, I'm not sure but doesn't that eat up quite a bit of bandwidth. Now I'm not saying that I'm pissed at the right clicking being disabled, I can live with opening only one window at a time, usually that's what I do anyways so... but the message doesn't that eat up bandwidth just desabeling right clicking is fine so why do we need the message.

1) "knowing which thread each user is looking at" is a STANDART feature in vBB. EVERY vBB have it

Now as I said earlier I'm not familiar with vBB so don't get pissed at me if I'm mentioning some stuff that's actually standard, and like I said I have nothing against right clicking being disabled only against the messages that I thought were eating up bandwidth. Other then that can't think of anything else right now so... yeah I guess that's it, other then that good job on the forums.

And yeah don't be pissed at me wooolF, I'm pretty sure that I don't want to get on your bad side cause I've see people that do get on your bad side and I've heard stories, AND from what I've seen and heard it isn't pretty :p

Virtusofriend, you don't exactly need to watch movies just read, like I said 1984 is a book not a movie (I don't even think that they ever made a movie) it is however a very famous book in english literature and was also pretty funny for me seeing as I am from Russia and.... well you gotta read the book to understand what I mean. But I guess I am a bit paranoid sometimes, it's just the way I am, I have a bios, a windows and a novel client password on a DESKTOP computer that's in my bedroom, that is a bit paranoid I think :p, well at least I realize that I am paranoid so I'm not completely crazy only half way :p ;)

I read this book 2 years ago and i know what u mean but this board is in no way a big brother system. Read the book again to see how this board is completly not so. I also agree with wooolF what the hell are security features on this board? Last thing, about the 1984 movie yea it came out here is a link about it, i saw it, it wasn't as gr8 as the book:
