Which System is better for work?
Windows NT Workstation or Windows 2000 ?
Actally i know but i also want to use my second computer for a personal server so i dunno which System i should use...

If u say "hey wtf dont u use windows 2000 ?"

Which one ?
professional?
datacenter?
advanced server?

could someone explain me which one would be the best and tell me some details..

it depends on what you are doing, Win2k is good for setting up a dedicated server, not sure about WinNT though

I would go for Win2k if you want to set up a dedicated server

use win2k... winnt is just a tank where u will have so many problems, that u will be reinstalling in no time.

WIN2k just plainly is a very updated and better version of NT, 2k is on NT technology, so 2k should be the way to go. Where as which version is what you want to do with the system,

Pro - overall usage, games, server, LAN etc
Adv Server- mainly for server and networking usage
Data Center -- NFI !!!

Hmmmmm, ahhh Win2k is actually Win NT5. Another thing is the NT, it stands for N*zi Tech, the Germans make execelent stuff (BMW Porch Mercedes Beans ect. rof) j/k! Really it stands for the type of filing system it used fot storing data (others are fat 16, or 32) NT is a much more secure way of arranyngeing data for storage, harder to hack ect, just dont forget your password as its MUCH harder to find one in NT filing sys than fat32. Win2k is possibly Winhoes best os hands down, if your looking for a good reliable os you cant go wrong with Win2k pro, as for the server version its as it's name suggests a server. It lacks many of the "nice" features 2k has but it is then again for "industrial use" One thing about Win2k though, its not very "cheat oriented" take it from me, Woofie knows, (Thank You Woofie!) I spent many many days of frudtration attempting to get any cheats to work with Winhoes2k with dismal results. Out of frustration, (and again Thanks for the Info WooFie) I got the wonderful idea to setup 98se alongside my 2k in a dual booting sys (the two of them get along terrificly) that IMO has the best of both worlds. One strange quirk you'll notice if you format the 2k partition using NT5 filing system, it will appear not to exist while you are using 98se!(98 doesnt "see" nt5 partitions) in other words when using 2k you will see 98 just like normal! just another partition and its associated files, a bit confuseing at first LOL, until you realize its just one of the "secure" features of Winhoes2K. As for XP, ahhh XP stands for eXtra Problems, XT is simply a fat portly version of Win2k, think of xp as a FAT Lady in 2k's dress! lmao, nice to look at? but in the "real" world it's just slow and sweats alot. xp takes what is perhaps redminds finest os and adds alot (need flour to find the "wet spot") of unessesary fluff and total bullshit trash you wont ever require or want to use such as "remote desktop" LOL a easy access door way for "MS techs" <read as Hackers> to gain access to your comp to assist (with writing nasty letters and threats to the "oval orafice?) in helping you fix your "XP"(extra problems)? Oh and as to Win2k not working Kazza, thats just not true, I use Kazza Lite with 2k and it works perfectly not a single bit of trouble. I hate and despise Bill Gates as much as anyone, but ya gotta give credit where credit is due, Win2k is there best os effort to date from Billy's Boyz up in Redmond. XP is a joke, a bad joke on MS IMO. Only Billy deserves the kind of slow porky problems XP has instore for the end user. Data Center is something new to me

but I've used the following tho:
Win2k:
-Pro
-Adv Server

Adv Server is for hosting and managing networks that are more internet like websites and server hosting.

Pro is more for personal day to day use such as hosting intranets [lans] and all that weird junk that is not meant to go out of the website. but ofcourse pro still has the IIS stuff for hosting small websites and stuff.

So if you're going to go with server, go with Adv Server if you had the money or willingness to handle that crap. But you still have to have win2k+ on the os in order to run adv server.
