can u please try and explain what u are trying to say?

are u:

1) trying to get better sound through tweaking the Dare.ini
2) trying to get better performance through tweaking the Dare.ini

what u said sounds like u are trying to either obtain a new copy of Dare.ini or paste into Dare.ini a new value to hear the opponent better.

Another way to reduce the ambient sounds is to dig up my old tutorial on bytehacking the .sbo / .uax files and that will get rid of practically all extranious noise except for footsteps, gun fire, grenade sounds, etc.

actually i believe unless the method has changed that about 90% of the files did not change the md5 hash when bytehacked. a suggested method to test this theory is to follow the tut and keep a backup on each file u do. and then at the end make a batch file that will run the md5tool.exe which can be obtained on the punkbuster webpage and check every file to see if it's been changed or not.
