put in your win 98 cd
when it boots up, click upgrade but go to new installation
make your folder name for the 98 *example: my xp folder is WINXP and my 98 folder is WIN98*
when everything is done installing
you will have a dual boot pc
reboot your pc when your done
i prefer you should boot up in 96 when it asks you to
den go to control panel and load up system
go to the advanced tab
click on startup and recovery
in the "Default Operating System" box
change it to Microsoft Windows 98 blah /fastdetect
then click on the edit box
you will see
*yours will be different depending on your OS folder name"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINXP="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WIN98="Microsoft Windows 98" /fastdetect
delete the xp line
leaving it as
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WIN98="Microsoft Windows 98" /fastdetect
den go to your windows explorer and delete the WINXP folder or wutever the XP folder wuz called
your done
PS you should BACK EVERYTHING UP just in case

hmm...
I have used the following os's
XP-Corp.
2k-Pro.
98se
In my humble opinion, it seems to me that 98se is the best for serious gaming and general abuse.
2k-pro- is more for gfx, design, security, and developments and general gaming. But this is the lesser eye candy and much more efficient and secure in some senses that XP-corp.
XP-corp, if you love the features and all the eye candy it has but is willing to give up a lot of memory and let the vid card take a good beating or so.

well I have 1GB of ram and a geforce3ti and I don't have a problem running XPPro (Corp. edition) it actually runs even faster then Win2k and 98se. In my opinion it is much more stable then any previous windows OS, but as I said that's my opinion so.... yeah if you do have a lower end PC though I'd recommend 98se mid range systems Win2k, but basically that's it.
Oh BTW the easiest way to uninstally XP (if you have all important data backed up) is to simply format your XP partition if you have multiple partitions this is very efficient since you can back up important data to your other partition(s).

Yea I agree with jojo XP is the best i have 256 MB RAM and ran 98-SE, WinME-(came with the comp, dell, don't ask....)I had to uninstall this crap it was givin me a friggen error ever other hour!, Win2K-Pro, not bad pretty much like XP, and currently WinXP-Corp. In my opinion Corp is the best thing! i have an Intel P3 933 MHz, 20 GB 7200 RPM and i'm doin just fine...only 1 problem i download too much and i constantly run outta space...(Hmm, if u're wondering i download 600-700 Meg files, at least 1 a day, hehe)Anyway I say to anyone who is lookin to upgrade or downgrade of that matter, go with XP-Corp. If your comp is older than 2 years go with 98-SE (unless u added cool stuff and upgraded everything including your motherboard and just kept the damn thing thats holding the whole computer together, hehe)

I really don't like a lot of the fluff that comes with XP though. There is so many loop holes and points of security access that even a NOOB can exploit. In XP-<ALL EDITIONS> it has a built in cap that if not tweaked will slam you offline if you hit a certain speed unless MS has offered an up date or proper hacking of the OS.

yeah I have to agree there are quite a few negative features about XP but... face it it's the most stable edition of windows in a long time
