okay I dont want to call technical services for my DSL because it jus takes too long for them to reply

my problem is:

Everything is fine with my connection
I download at MAX speeds
I check my bandwidth at 2wire.com and its a constant 690-730
Everything is OK

But at night, at around 8-9 PM...in games as in Quake 3, Rocket Arena 3, Counter-Strike, I start to ping an average of 450

My ping jus jumps from 30 to 450

its not the server, because everyone else is ok

and the next morning/afternoon, i join the same server and i ping normal again

its not cause of traffic because I am on a DSL modem so....

maybe im being packeted?
my modem is messed up?
my isp is messed up?

any info would be appreciated

and after reviewing your comments

ill call my ISP to see wuts wrong and prolly change my IP

Your thoughts

sometimes the ISP messes with the connection ( or probably their network problem ) since problem isn't exist anymore, why bother? :)

usually ISP's just do upgrades, diagnostics and sh*t at night so most people aren't bothered so... that's prob your problem.

I think you might live on the outer edge of the DSL station.... and at night(22pm?) when most DSL users are online its slows down.

my uncle has it he lives in big city and at 22pm he has 250 ping on an server on a backbone of an ISP

really I heard that since dsl gives each user his/her/its own frequency it doesn't matter how manny people are on the speed is constant, but I dunno maybe I was wrong

but how can you explain the problem then.
I mean where all the cables go togethr, must be a huge electromagnetic field. That might disturb the connection

DSL Sux Hard. It's just plain and simplr not a good choice for "realtime" game playing. For the best possible connrction with DSL you nrrd to be NO MORE than 18,000feet from the nearest realay. They won't even install it if you are outside there limits. DSL is ok for an Office or Buisiness, but when miliseconds matter Cable Ownz. I had DSL for over 2 years and I had a better ping with my Dialup! I spent countless hours Tweaking and never did get a good ping and I lived a 100 feet from the relay station! Check out DSL Reports.com for the best tweaks and info on DSL on the web, then look at my page at DSL Reports, I documented the entire nightmare of DSL at all hours and have complete networking conditions and results showing a maximum of 756Kbs dl speed and a almost 200Kbs up. It cost over 70 a month, I switched to cable and for less than half as much miney I get 2Mbs++ dl's and 700-1000 uploads! If cable is available in your aera get it, DSL isnt worth the bother. The experts at DSL Repoets will tell you the same thing, and yes, DSL IS affected by Network Traffic, dont be misled, ever try to dl a file on Christmass day or any popular holiday? You'll be lucky if you can ping your isp! Let along get to where you want to go.... Any network connrct, regardless of which kind falls under the exact set of physics, well not *exact but still they operate on the same principal, sending a electrical signal thru some copper wire, obviously distance, load and newtins law of physics apply. The amount of time it takes to travel feom one point to another CANNOT be changed provided ideal cinditions prevail. Simply said, its going to take "x" amount of time for your signal to travel to its destination and back, Traffic along that route will only raise that time that ot will take to complete its journey.
