This is the best game I have ever played.

I thought it might not live up to the high praise, but it certainly does. Even on my crap laptop with an integrated 64mb vid chip, it still runs in low res and looks every bit as sexy as the original, and even more so :).

Buy this game now.

One thing I loved about it was that it didn't duplicate Doom 3's fatal flaw of relying entirely on graphics instead of gameplay. Sure, the Doom 3 engine will sell well, but the game was only average. The Source engine got a good showcase, but the storyline and incredible gameplay variance put HL2 way ahead of any competition.

Also, I noticed that new one of the new Doom 3 expansions will have a gun a good deal like the gravity gun. What a great thing for a game that likes to boast suh a powerful physics engine to have.

Getting my ASUS V9999 6800 this week so I will be back on to it for the weekend i am sure. As for a summary.... Basically, you are helping the resistance stop the combine, which I cannot really describe too easily. There are many different types of aliens against you, and even some that help you out along the way.

There are many puzzles and vehicles to solve and ride along the way, and thankfully, most of the puzzles don't involve a lot of jumping and dying like in the original :). I wish I could tell you more of the storyline, but that will ruin it for you and others :x.

sup, i was blown away buy doom3, and i have played 5 levels of hl2. this is what i think. the game is great, you can move just about any of the items in each map, and the graphics are out of this world(shading,water reflection}i think the game play is a little weak at this time, but i hope to change my mind soon the further i go. but i feel maybe the bronze package is the way to go on this one, but if you half to have the hat then go gold.im running a 9700 pro, with bartion 2800, and no lag at all at1280x1024, so thie realy big card is no issue. :daz: in short i like the game alot and cant wait to see the mods for this eng.

It is out, was released the 16th November... but the morons only released the regular version... so ill have to wait till 10th December to get my Collectors Edition >_< Luckily i have a friend which bought it already, and let me use his account :)

Game is good, but the maps was sorta repetitive imo, a big ass boat ride which was sorta boring, and a big ass buggy ride which also was long & boring :/ And i sorta missed a bit more puzzles >_<

And it was a tad too short compared to HL1 :P But it was very well done, looking forward to the expansion/HL3, hopefully it wont be 6 more years before its be done >_<

i doubt it, it took 6 years to make a new engine, but valve's source engine should be good enough to power Hl3 (with a few tweaks, etc)

I've played a lot of games and HL2 is an awesome game. The first level and the obstacles with the hovercraft, enough said.

HL2 easily outweighs other games in existence like Doom 3 and Halo 2. Doom 3 has better eyecandy, but when it comes to gameplay D3 is just shoot and kill. Halo 2 is way too much like the original as well. Half-Life 2 added so much more than the first.
