Autoexec and a few questions

BTW i need an autoexec.cfg to actually increase my FPS just to cope up with my 32Mb vid card, no matter if it kills the graphics, just increase my FPS... Thanks...

One more thing.. I get an error everytime i go to advanced video config... i can go into the advanced configuration but when i apply the changes all it says is a memory error and the settings don't get saved.. Help

yeah i used to get that wit my old graphics card (which was 64mb) it did it with the actual half life game ..i used to get the same error as u did, just means that ur graphics card directx is too low to run tha game properly,,sounds like u need a new grapics card :( ...i bought the nvidia gefrorce 5200 128mb..and wrks a dream now

Only thing I put in my autoexec.cfg was the following, since my graphics card doesn't let the flashlight work for some unknown reason (light shows up on models, but not on walls or elsewhere):

autoexec.cfg:

hl2flashlight.cfg:

alias flashon "mat_fullbright 1; wait; bind f flashoff"
alias flashoff "mat_fullbright 0; wait; bind f flashon"

If anyone has the same flashlight problem that I did and managed to fix it somehow, please tell me so I can give it a try. Fullbright really takes a lot away from the atmosphere of the game when I have to use it to see around me.

32 Mb vid card, is not good enough to run any of the new games coming out. You'll need to get at least 128mb, if ou get a Nvidia 6800 128MB, or if you can afford it get a GT or Ultra. I have a 6800 Ultra, HL2 or CS:S run like a dream, highest everything, and I still get like 120FPS. You can try to OC the 32MB card, but it won't help that much since it probably runs DirectX 7 or maybe if you lucky 8. The only thing you can do is get a new vid card, just dont get anything less than 128Mb, or else its a waste of money.

u can get a decent 128mb off tha net for bout £45-50 agp ..pci r a bit more xpensive


or if ur a rich bastad ..ati radeon x800 ..especially designed for the half life and cs engine :)
but its costs loads

ohhh crappy system... wellp too bad my graphics card is a chipset(uses 32Mb of system memory instead of having own vram memory) somebody said i can't adjust it to take up more memory... errr.. anyway, i'd rather buy a new high spec pc...

buttt... i hope my warranty subscription would allow me to return this freaky laptop... audio jacket is broken, lcd display disaligned when changing resolution, battery problems... and last but not the least, system fan is working like shyt... wellp cross ure fingrs, coz i want this to be refunded or replaced so i can get a new one... mp¬

Err.. My video card is a geforce ti4200, and it's 64mb. The source engine is really flexible with graphics, so it should be fine on 32 mb cards and such. Download the IcT dx hack and turn off the sky, and turn on white walls, it should run a bit smoother.

I am happy to hear that. whooot! yeah. Though can you help me get that hack coz i am so desperate T_T hehe.. thanks a lot u rock! and can u help me with some tweaks also? heheh
