Seems punkbuster scans not just your ravenshield directory but the whole c: drive... i kept getting kicked for 2 minutes for a whitelist violation and i couldnt figure it out cause i had no cheats installed... as it turned out i had an old cheat in My Documents, Trainers folder that i used for single player cheating and when i deleted it, punkbuster stopped kicking me out. Is this even legal for them to be scanning your whole computer?

punkbuster doesnt have the permission to scan ur whole harddrive. They need licenses for that. If i where u i should check punkbusters site or email them if they actually got licenses for it, esle i would sue them :) owned.

it's not whitelist it's still the md5 scans but they do something like ..\..\..\Tormentium.exe as what to check for.

just read the the post on here and noticed that im not the only one who gets a global ban.i get kick all the time my reason is this.when i install rvs on c drive i never get booted, but since i installed rvs on my second hd it boots me,so it must check all your c drive for rvs cheats.but i have been told it cant check second hd hence the global ban.wot do u lot think to this

wrong, it's checks are based off where the game is installed since that is the folder it is installed to and has legalities with. as for why u get kicked, that's not really a reason.

what does MD5 exactly do ? if i play without cheats on a pb server but i have ogc.dll or some other hooks in my game folder ( but i dont use it ) can MD5 or PB detect it ? because i play atm on pb on servers without cheats and i saw a MD5 check on a anticheat site with my name - ip & guid with a found (nameOFtheHook.dll)

and another guestion : when i play on a server and a admin thinks i cheat does he chekc me with MD5 or does it PB automatic when u are on a PB server ?
i need this info !

md5 is used to detect files located in the games folder, currently psb people have been modifying the checks to search outside of the game folder which i believe to be illegal. but yes, md5 will detect the hooks in the folder whether u are using them or not.

md5 is done automatically, however they are able to check values of certain variables ingame at will such as the playerconsole in case it's changed since the initial check

How about renaming the hack .exe or .dll file and then compressing it with something like UPX? That way the file size and internal information will be different as well as the name.

changing the file size won't work, they look to make sure it's not actually there.

renaming should work tho.

Without trying to sound like one of those anti-cheat noobs, I just thought i'd pass this on to you regarding where PB can look and what it can look for....

1) When you click the agreement between you and PB you give it the right to look throughout your WHOLE computer for any known hax's for that game ... it doesnt kick you for a hax for mohaa for instance, just the game you have installed PB for.
2) Part of this agreement enables PB to make a hash key of ALL of your hardware. So they use this for the global bans etc. You agreed to this when you installed PB. Can't sue them for something you agreed to.
3) Some time ago PB changed to give itself ALL admin rights on your comp. Again, you agree to this when you click.
4) The best thing to do if you want to cheat on non pb servers is dont install pb at all. After you have finsihed having your haxing fun, delete all traces of said hax, install PB and play that way. Want to cheat? Uninstall PB again.

Personally, cant stand PB, been globally banned for BFV and have since deleted all games that require PB to play. No cheating = no fun at all
