I like it but is the Winamp YP still down? There was an attack recently.
Over the last few months, an attacker has been creating listings with the intent to exploit internet explorer on the users machine to install spyware. Until this weekend, their effect has been mitigated by repeated bans.

Recently, they upped their game, using a network of drones (possibly aquired as part of the spyware/malware) they were able to maintain listings of approx. 500-600 streams in the yp, all of which were redirecting to his website which served up the spyware.

The YP became bogged down, requests for stream addresses became subject to flood protection which prevented the ban bot from doing its job, and the problem escalated.

To that end, the YP has been altered to serve up a static 2 stream feed for Internet TV until at least monday when appropriate staff can look at a possible solution, along with the relevent security/legal folk looking at taking down the attacker.

While the attackers stream was advertising as porn, they really had no intention of providing any amount of appropriate content, and the porn listings were only to maximize their "audience".

It is unfair to bundle the legit streamers into the same basket. Many streams have been very amicable with regards to rules and changes to the YP and prove that this system can work.

Ok I got the idea of using winamp streaming tv when i was watching it last night...and Lots of money????
Explain every cost that would be envolved.
No one listens because you are on :P :P :P
But some people don't listening to radio, like i never listen to any of winamps radio's.
A good example of a show on MPC tv would be like Chappelle show. "is wayne brady gunna have to choke-a-bitch?"

I don't watch TV, so it's an easy choice with me. as long as the radio was a dedicated music one and not one of those constantly advertising between and during songs...

Unless the TV Stream was run by a girl, I seriously doubt we would bother watching it. And even at that... See how many people actually listen to the radio...

I listen to the radio often, especially when luck plays my fav songs ;)

you know how much per month the radio stream costs because of the bandwidth? now take the 56k we use for songs and times that by at least 4 to get the bandwidth needed for video, then don't forget to times the price by 4 as well.

you wanna set it up and pay for it yourself..... go ahead, I'm not gonna stop you, but I'm not gonna be paying for it either.

i dont think anyone listens to radio on the net cuzz it sounds like shit and whats the point when u can load a mp3 file alot easier :P and cystal clear sound lol
thats why i dont listen to radio on the net.

but all the bandwidth from streaming video and stuff would cost alot and they say it cost alot to run this site and the ads dont even come close to payin for it.
tv would only be cool if more poeple would watch it. could make money off having ads and stuff on a streaming video thing :P only if more poeple were here to watch it

Man you should at least listen to MPC Radio because it is sth that it is made by ppl like me and you , luck is not a pro or sth however he has put a lot of effort on it , he really likes it and i personally if i would had a broadband type connection i would listening and djiing for the radio.

heres an idea relating to that.... ppl come here because of games mostly i would imagine.... soo.... why not have a video every week or two weeks outlining new upcoming games, tips, tricks, cheats, etc.... something like that... i dunno if anyone has seen that kind of tv programme but maybe something like that? and then just have it "on demand" and they can download the file to their PC and watch it there... *poof* there goes the bandwidth issue. :)

well if u guys put together the clips.... i can use adobe premier and put it all together... nice a professional looking :) any volunteers for this? like i mean.... if u wanna have yourself in the video, record ureself with a video camera... not a webcam .... u can upload them to my webserver and i can get em from there... but... i was thinking more along the lines of having the show narrated or something... but i mean hell we can brainstorm ideas.... and i think it'd be cool ... but best method i think is KISS (keep it simple stupid)... ;)

if anyone wants to talk bout this just pm me or get me on msn messenger.. my address is in my profile.... also, lets get some input from the admins....

okay well if you guys can set all this up I will do what I can to support you as long as it's clean and no talk about anything that would be against MPC rules.

By doing what I can to support you I mean putting the show up on the MPC server fo all to download, and maybe making an announcement about it.

Other than that sorry I've already seen how the radio went downhill, so at this time I'm not really prepared to start up another project myself.

Amen Luck. Almost no one ever listens to the 20 Slot radio station...... PLus............

I dont think the whole god damn MPC Members could afford the amount of bandwith needed on a server.... Plus we would have to make sure there are safe clips other wise its gonna be 24/7 "xXx"

#2 Even if you could get the right host to do it, you would have to have a limit or it would slow the server down.
#3 It is best just to have radio for now to get more members on that instead of dividing the current listeners to TV and Radio.

Maybe a good idea for the future, but not right now anyways.

wow.....but i dont think the TV thing will work out.....its like just say u start streaming at 9.00 and ur showing a clip of Russle Peters or smth.....some guy tunes in at 9.10 he's not gonna understand the starting...and as for the radio ppl can turn in and play games or smth....but u can stream into a TV show and just listen....like whats the point?
