HL2DM Problem

Hey I have 56k so my ping is usually high (300-400) but I got HL2 today and played HL2DM and my ping is like always in the 900s..I cant walk cant shoot do anything beacause its lagging so much. Im not downloading or anything like that..

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Id say it is because of your Processor.
Or screen lag.

Well actually its really your connection. The reason this is, is because of all the physics going on. The reason counter strike doesnt lag AT ALL with 56k (maybe a little) is because of good netcode AND the physics are client side. With half life 2 dm the physics HAVE to be serverside. So its like adding another player for every object. In turn creating tons of lag. think about getting on a 99/100 server on counterstrike. I bet the lag would be the same. What I like about counter strike source is how damn good the netcode is. I mean on Americas Army my ping is like 350 but on css its at highest 180. Thats on 56k!
