Is there even a point to hex edit anymore? Regardless of what we hex edit, it shouldnt change whether or not VAC detects it...am i right?

VAC detects the way in which things are loaded, so if you hexed it...would not do any good. HLG and CSG check for cmds and file names, so I guess it would work againt those, but not VAC.

VAC detects injection methods...Hex Editing changes names of commands and such (if at all) VAC will still detect it if it didn't work before hexing.
