no its not possible, aao use some other files in your system that will crash if you even try.

umm, i actaully think its possible.

You just need to copy all your game files to another location and rename the ArmyOps.exe to somethin else.

I think it might work, ill go try.

EDIT: Nvm it dont work.

This got me thinking too........you could make copies of all the files the game uses and change the extensions. Then hex edit armyops.exe to load the new extensions. In theory, it would be two different games (not using the same files). I dont know if it will work....Ill maybe try it later.

that is where you are wrong, i bet my computer could do it, and my cmop sucks. My brothers computer can host a server in the background and he wont even notice a slow down.

Our copmuters have the power to do it, just figureing out how is the hard part.

I believe the reason it's not possible is the windows system files it uses can't be run by the same process together.

Its possible... U know Lindows? (I dont know i can post name) With that programm u can SIMULATE an O/S so its possible, but it will cost A LOT OF CPU USAGE...

@Server: Its just a dos prog that sends the player his possitions. So making a server doesn't use much CPU. The only thing why they have so much servers: Bandwith (Punkbuster needs lots of bandwith LOL)

if you change the name of the .exe, which is ArmyOps.exe by defualt, it will change the name of the process that is created. Thats not the problem.

There is a program that allows you to run a virtual OS on a computer. I can't remember the name of the software off hand, but I am sure someone else knows what I am talking about. You can run linux or windows on the vitual OS. It seems like it would be quite a hastle though just so that you could have to copies of AA running at the same time.

I tried it and it does NOT work. At least not the way I did it.

I have AA 2.1 installed and AA 2.2.1 installed.... so I simply renamed my 2.1 armyops.exe to Armyops21.exe and loaded the game. When I tried to launch 2.2.1 I received a message instructing me to "Shut down all copies of the game and editor before restarting".

yea i think other people have the right idea, getting the thing that runs a virtual OS.

And eyewannacheats idea might work.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx perhaps?

Also, VMWare is another program that does the same thing.

The anwser would be: No.

Because you can't run the UT engine with 2 different processes at the same time try it with UT2K4 try opening AAO with that it wont let you. You can hoast a serve on an AAO that has been copied though, I found that doing that theres less lag.

i remember about 1 1/2 year ago when we tryed to get aao on a cd, so pb shouldnt be able to ban computer, just the drive...lol...we didnt think of the uploadings to files as we played. Without acting or sounding like an azzhole this is getting just as dumb.....you cant run 2 aao on same time on same cp on same screen....been tested many times before.

i just wonder why anyone would want too.... you cant exactly track two instances of a game that is as fast paced as AA.

well i agree that its impossible to run 2 aao versions at the same time...

altough i think if we dig deep it is possible to have 2 different aao versions at the same pc installed... so that u can play 2.2.1 and when you close it and you wanna play like 2.0 that it should start without errors...
i tried this but had no succes... but i am sure that this is possible..

I got both AAO and UT2k4 working. Plus with a good PC, it can run like up to 4 games. (I have done this. I got like WCIII, UT2k4, AAO running at once). But I have not tryed to get 2 different copys of AAO to run. What I plan on doing is renameing everything on the 2nd copy, not sure if it will work tho. Beside my computer is build for gaming so never really had a problem there.

When I mean I got both UT2k4 and AAO working, I mean I got severs to show up on the list, I didn't go in to play both games at once.

I run 2 copies of AA all the time. It's simple: use Topolinux or Colinux. You can basicaly run a fully functional version of a real linux distro inside of windows if you run a vnc server. Of course one version is Linux and the other is linux, but it works fine if ur running a server or somthing.

I think the simplest way to do this is to install 1 copy to your OS hardrive (2.2.1) then copy and paste the AA folder to another hardrive. Uninstall AA from the OS hardrive and delete the folder, then install 2.0. Or vice-versa with the versions, but it should work. *edit* sorry it morning and Im still tired. this is of course only for people who have multiple hardrives. *edit*

ITS POSSIBLE... quite possible. not on the same desktop though. i didnt read half of the 2nd page or third page.

all you do is create a new account in windows, load up AA on the first one then load up AA on the 2nd one. easy.

I done that all the time, I mean I have 2 computer and only one has AAO/Hacks. I had all of them on DeskTop. (What I mean is I had all the AAO Folder and Hacks Folder on DeskTop). Made a new folder, called it **** (what ever you want). I right clicked on **** went to Sharing and Security... then all you gotta do is click the box that says share this file over lan or something along the lines. Then you get on the other PC and go to My Network Places. *NOTE* BOTH PC HAS TO BE ON!!!

I can run FS 2004, Photoshop, and AA all at the same time and not be run down at all. I have a 3.2 GHz P4 with 2 GB of RAM.

It doesn't matter what harddrive it's placed on. You can't run the game twice unless you try changeing the extensions of the .u files and making AA use those with a different extension somehow. That's a very very good idea btw. It could be pretty useful for easy honor gain in the future :paranoid:

Ok this is the jest of it..

1) You can run more than 2 progs at a time, this is called multi tasking.
2) running more than one prog will slow your PC down cos of Resources. depends on (SPEC).
3) It is not possible to run 2 copies of AA at the sametime, cos of the way unreal engine works. Its to do with memory addresses of the program. you can not run 2 progs trying to write to the same mem offset address hence the error message! however, if you are a good programmer and can change the structure of the *.exe and starting reg of the AAO.exe then it could be possible! see where i am coming from.. enough said. ;)

Lindows ?? WTF .... you are officially insane.

The program for OS is called either : VMWARE ... run on Nix and Win, and for Linux you have something called WineX, that lets you emulate and run almost any Win32 API. Except for hard graphics.

Under Linux install a copy of VMware, In VMware install Windows whatever you want, and it will run, not very smoothly of course. Then Install the .bin for linux, tada, two copies of the same game running at the same time, on the same system.

The WMvare system is considered a computer, inside of a computer. It even has its own ip address, and fully accesable to anything on the network you want, just like a real computer :)
