How do i use steam with linksys router:

Hey guys, I mainley hack America's Army and i was gonna try half life 2 out so i downloaded the demo, i cannot log into my account, i looked in support, they said it was becasue i need to degrade the frimware on my router, i am stll looking for a working download link or if someone could attach

Well, here (ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/befsr41/befw11s4v1-fw-1442z.zip) you can download the lastest firmware for your router. (Just 2 minutes of googling)

Maybe you have to open some ports for Steam. I'll look into that now.

The following ports must be open in your firewall and router for Steam and Steam Games to work:

UDP 1200 (used for friends service)
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27020 to 27050 inclusive

Computers running Dedicated Servers need these ports open:

UDP: 27015 and 27020 (default HLDS, SRCDS and HLTV port)
TCP: 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

Never saw a version notification on that page, so I assumed it was for version 4. Anyway, I found what ports should be open, try opening them first.

Took me another 2 minutes on the Linksys page to find that, lol.
Just goto support, select Drivers&Firmware and then select your router V. 4.

dude it still doesn't work, i was told to DOWNGRADE the frimware

what you were told is wrong. trust me, ive had 3 years (believe it or not) of experience with linksys routers. Hell, I even own a WRT54G myself. Degrading your firmware can only CAUSE problems, not fix them. your best bet it to open the damn ports, or if your feeling really safe and you want to play, activate the DMZ on your Internal IP. Then your going to want to UPDATE the firmware to the NEWEST version possible.

and pwner, its FIRMware, not FRIMware. Just like it was mod, and not modd.

I think I said i opend the ports and i am the DmZ host above ^^^


They aren't alining coes, look closely i have a lot os squiggiley lines, it took like 3+ hours to get my sig that good and aligned, so like it rofl
