lol well that means that your OS is screwed just reinstall it that should fix your problemsor a radical sollution would be to format and then reinstall but then you loose everything

I personally find Win XP alot better then all other versions of windows, it has run error free on my computer for 6+ months now so I would have to say that if you're going to go for the XP Pro version then it worth it, I don't know about the Home version I've never used it.

I completly agree i have had WinXP Pro for about 4+ months now and i have yet to have a crash or something causing me to shut down. Also by the way XP is soo good because i think if u leave it open and idle after a while it will recycle your RAM so that the next morning its just like u restarted, i barely have to restart now, and i only shut down my comp once while running XP and thats when i went on vacation for a week.

Rookie-1 before you try anything drastic, I suggest you also try another approach to locate the source of the problem.

After restarting your computer, go to your Task Manager (Press Alt+Ctrl+Del) and have a look at the running applications. There could be something operating that can cause an illegal operation to any of your programs. I have noticed in many computers that rundll32.dll (will appear as rundll32.exe) causes illegal operations to some of the programs that try to operate within the Operating System. If you do observe such a file running on your computer through task manager, I suggest you terminate it. After doing so, go to Start>>Run and type regedit (or regedit.exe) and press enter.
Once in there, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunOnce. If you have found the source of the problem and it occurs every single time you restart your computer, then it probable is located in here (unless it is a service). Try locating it amongst those two folders; if you do find the String Value with the command line that causes the error within that listing, you can either:

1. Move it to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run (Disabled)
2. Make an exact copy of the string name and value on the computer or on a piece of paper and then delete it safely.
3. Merely add a ; (semi-colon) in the front of the value so that it does not get executed. But both above ways are good just the same.

Then restart your computer and go back to your normal activities and see if the error occurs again. If it does not, congratulations ;)

If you have any other questions about this, or need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Have a nice day,

Hello all.....the illegal operation seems to come up when Netscape is open.....I installed the new one and has been probulms ever since.....when I use IE the warning doesn't come up, well not as often.....so maybe it could be Netscape.......is there a way to shut that warning off for good?.......probuly not a good idea......thanks for the help.....:) :)

I don't think you can just "shut that warning off" try reinstalling netscape or use ie if the error doesn't happen that often

Ok, try running windows file checker first. It will tell you if any files are messed up and repair them. Then if you want to use "Nutscrapes brouser" it will constantly fight with ie if both are present. Try this approach, go to www.98lite.net and download the ie remover there, it will take ie out completely and then nutscrape wont cause probs! Its my way of doing it if you want to use something other than windows stuff. I also try to find the problem before reformating so I know what caused the prob that way I dont cause any repeat performances down the road. :) Aloha, KH :)

HAHAHAH SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE JUST KILLING ME I CANT STOP ...ARE SOME OF U A LAUGH ...

As For You My Friend Here is reality ...

Well Man Its Time To say Goodbye to Your Current OS AND SOFTWARE ...

There are a few things that may be the answer ...

1.Your WINSHIT98 Crushed (But thats not a problem thats "NORMAL PRECCES WHILE USING WS98 "

2.U May have a Realy shitty old virus on your comp ...

3.Your Kernel Or Run Dll Crushed ...

4. Or A programs has crushed and may taken a few dll's in the underworld along with it ...

There are a few more but dont remember ...

So u dont have Much choice now ...

1. U REINSATLL OR CHANGE THE OS.

2. Read 1 .

3. Read 4 .

4. Well enaugh fuc*kin around :) Well A friend told me that the problem could be fixed but for a short period of time (like windowsZ life time ) And aslo i heard and experienced that your machine isnt the same after u start getting these shitty errors ...

If u Fix it ... I can bet your machine will not give u its best preformance since u changed stuff and "WINDOWS" doesnt like that in the 1 place :). Heh But U'll have enough time to backup stuff with a meduim chance that the OS will crush :) And If u REINSTALL THE WS98 often use "nothon GHOST" reinstall it once ... install this (it saves the exatct condition if your comp ALL OF THE DATA adn makes a file) make a image (the file) and when U'r comp crushez just use dos start the program tell it "USE THIS IMAGE" and it restores the comp 100% form the image ...

If U WANNA TAKE ALL DA PAIN REINSTALLING THE WS98 ... Here's a TIP got to the registery and export the needed info on software and stuff u USE ... then copy THE stuff somewhere else ... REINSTALL WS98 ... and import the reg file u've exported ... There is a program that makes tis more simple and deals with the registery but if u know windows good u dont need it ...

About XP i think its the only thing i should be gratefull to Microsoft ... Its the only one they made right or almost :)
And its TIMES more stable then any of the WINDOWSEZ its has good stuff in the core and many things implanted ... Itd realy good and it crushez realy realy rare ... U gotta do allot of damage to crush it ... And it almost error free ... I personaly prefer my comp to crush instead of dealing with losts of anoyng errors and then crush :) And the XP has pretty good looks ... And if u put some sweat into it U'll make it a real beauty ... But as aslways there is a LIIIIITLE PROBLEM this goes for some people ... Well I'f U R a TRUE GAMER and like clasic and new stuff ... the oldest of them wont work on XP and U'lll have to find drivers and shitz for the to work since the WIN core is difrent that goes for some OOOOOOLD progz 2...

About the error it self ... i never wanted to know much ...

I'm Sure our old FRIEND Billy Gay Z was pist off when he made it ... : ) And i think since microsoft didnt wanted to be rood to users they made these FUC*KIN ERROS AS WAYS OT TELL YO TO REINSTALL THE WS98 : ) and since microsoft can tell "You have to reinstall thats microsoft bisunes" it forces u to do so be these "SWEET" FUKIN ERRORS ... Imagine ! Did u heard of the guy who made the "REAL WINDOWS" u probably never heard of that but a guy edited windows changed all the interface and windows to more "real" ones like here is the how did the illigal thing display "Fuc*k Off bitc*H Boot U'r FUK*CIN MACHINE AND TRY AGAIN..." he changed all of them and sended a copy to Billy :) I never heard more about that story ... So this one of the things that windows uses to say "**** OFF BITC*H I'm too old REINSTALL ME OR I'll take hostages (your software) heh ...

Have Phun Here's a pic for ya ...

Only way Ill suck it is after I hacked it off and put it on the BBQ (weenie roast anyone?) The poor guy with the problem needs an answer he can understand, not a life history of yer personal experience with computers. Oh and so you know I happen to work on computers for a living, and I also live in the land they call the "melting pot of the pacific" or simply put we have more differnt types of people living here than anywhere else in the world. We all get along just fine Thanks. Aloha, KH :D

Yeah I'm with Krazy Hawaiian, after all this is a technical support forum not a 'flaming the poor n00bs time' forum. So be nice to those who are less fortunate.
