Depends... Doom 3 SP was fun, but short. I couldn't enjoy myself long with the MultiPlayer, so now the game is gathering dust on the shelve.
CS Source is the best of course, but that statement might be a bit unneutral :P
I never liked battlefield for its long spawntimes and above that, I sucked in it.
So it totally depends on what sorts of games you like. Doom 3 is fast paced. CS:S a little less and BF even less. If you want a really stressful game then you get yourself UT2k4. ;)

lol UT2k4 is the best game ever made man, i love it. Doom3 i wouldnt suggest getting unless you have at least a 2.6ghz CPU, 512mb ram, and a good gfx card, an ATI Radeon 9600xt or nVidia 5700 Ultra at least.

Diddle, you sayying Battlefield has long spawn times? HAHAHAHA. CS Source has the long spawn times because once your dead you have to wait for the next round. Most BF servers has less then a 20 sec spawn time.
I would have to say tho, CSS and BF are about the same pace, not too fast and not too slow. If you really want a fast pace game go UT2k4.
The one thing I like about BF is so many different vehicles you can use mixxed in with the infantry.
CSS has all the different guns you can choose from which you can really mix things up.
UT2k4, is a really fast paced game and is what makes it fun. Its non-stop action from beginning to end mainly.
Never played doom3 so I cant tell ya good or bad.
One thing I can say tho for cheating, unless you want to learn some advanced programming, the BF series is not a good choice for cheating. CSS, well there are a couple public hacks out but VAC2 coming out soon(in beta now), I expect cheating in CSS will die down quite a bit, for now atleast. Never cheated in UT2k4 so cant say anything about cheating there.

Well, Battlefield rounds are longer than CS:S rounds. And when you loose, imo, you loose more then when you die in a CS:S round. Because in BF respawning is really respawning... during the round and I rather do that quick. Sometimes in Assault in UT2k4 it takes 5 seconds to spawn and since that's a really fastpaced game, that's an eternity...

Ugh, Doom 3 was the biggest let down not only for me, but for the whole general gaming community. Trust me -- It is only eye candy!
Multiplayer attempted to be all "suspenseful and scary" with most of servers having a max of 6 people. However this was ruined with rocket launchers and stupidly large maps for such a small amount of people.
Never played BF so don't know anything about that.
CS Source -- What im playing the most at the moment. However it can get quite frustrating at times.
UT2K4 -- Lots of fun especially Onslaught. Qute easy to get to grips with if you've at least played the origonal UT. However I found it can get boring within a few weeks. But its one of those games where if left for a while you can happily come back to it one rainy day and be hooked again for weeks on end.

Well Doom3 is really a great single player game. You can shit your self if you have a good speaker system. Ive had my moments in mp with d3. All rocket rounds are really fun.
Ive got CSS and BF:1942. I would pick battlefield 1942 out of CSS. I agree CSS is a pretty good game but valve blows. Not to mention once you buy it you have about a 50/50 of not being able to play it. Steam is banning ips left and right and many people use proxies now to reg accs with steam-down and steam-****ered. In general steam was a good idea shot down by a bad dev team. BF2 will be awesome.
And you dont need a great system to expierence doom3. a 1.5ghz and a radeon 9200 will beable to give you 60fps through the whole game. This is with 512 ram of course

Doom 3 SP was fun, but short. I couldn't agree more. Also, Doom 3 was too dark for my tastes.. I always have fun playing the bf1942 games, I recommend it :).

In my opinion, Doom3 was a very good SP game. Play in it a dark room with good sound or headphones, its very creepy. MP is not great, there are times when it can be fun, but those times are rare. Its still worth buying if you like a dark spooky SP game.

I have an Athlon 64 3200 venice @ 2.6 Ghz, 512 XMS Corsair 3200 and a DFI Lan Party NF4 Ultra..Decent system there, but time for some bragging.
I have a Asus 256 Geforce 6600 (non GT) bios flashed to a Sparkle, running at 600 core and 1020 ram. Infact, it actually performs a little better than a 6600GT. My next plan? To get an 6800 and overclock that puppy into an ultra.
Anyway, dumb runs on that cheap card (6600 OC) at ultra high settings at over 60 FPS.

"My next plan? To get an 6800 and overclock that puppy into an ultra."
Wont work they use different kinds of memory... you can overclock it to the speed of the ultra, but you still wont have to performance.
id suggest getting a 6800GT and Softmodding it into a 6800 Ultra and then over clocking that.

why only 5122mb of ram? slap another stick in and make it dual-channel thats good for another few fps.
the dfi supports dual-channel, methinks....
might really be pushin that Kidaho, the softmod will give the near 10-15% oc that the card can handle. might also need to uprate the coolin on the card aswell. always best to test for artifacts first with a normal oc and then if it takes try the softmod.
