I agree with what most people say on this thread. I think what you are trying to say is that you have ran out of memory or something like that, for starters, remove any programs that you do not want or need or at the bootup. Second, if you have heaps of shortcuts, why not add them onto your taskbar or something like that? Also for the memory thing, you might want to consider upgrading for new memory which will help ease a bit of windows consumption.

The first step of fixing that problem is getting either Win2000 or WinXP... Or Linix Mandrake

IMO, redhat is better than mandrake, less buggy, but Mandrake is probably the most user-friendly (if thats possible) Linux. Nonetheless, they are both free/open source :). and when it comes to Windows OS, I prefer Windows 2000 over any other OS out there. Basically, win2k is a cross between XP and 98. It has the speed and stability of windows XP/NT, without the pretty bells and whistles of windows XP, which would substantially slow your system

At least Linux is still better than winblowz

if it had better gaming compatability. Linux is great for servers and web-browsing and whatnot, but it's terrible for running any type of games on... sure there's WINE and Win4Lin netraverse etc but it just emulates the exe's, making the speed and stability advantages of Linux useless

That statement I agree for sure. Which is why there is guarenteed stability for servers in many many cases, thus more secure. Unfortunately, for clients running linux would not be easy and not a hell lot of fun.
