There is something you can do that the FBI do to peeps comps but you need an unscrabler and decoder and all the info is stored with out you knowing somewhere im not sure where but....
It is accessable if you havent used a fil;e shreder.

go to a hacking website and get a password hacker, leave it running for a few days and poof you got your password back
BTW this IS legal because you're using it for recovery purposes (recovery of your OWN files)

ROFL The odds of these Password Crackers/hackers to work are very low...(thats number 1) Number 2 The odds this will get u back your files are very low...Number 3 The odds are that the file u just downloaded called a "password cracker" is actually a trojan and will actually do more harm are quite high...
Oh and about

Actually, doing a format should get rid of all your files and if u do one of those the FBI can't get control of it, secondly isn't the FBI's point to recover deleted files? If so, deleted files are only stored in the memory for a short time (ever notice that sometimes your computer space goes up one day randomly...thats why ;))
I'm sorry to say but your problem is very problematic and when he was "deleting your account" it probably also deleted everything u had :(. I would say go on www.microsoft.com and go check their help database sometimes it proves to be quite useful :D
-Btw to any MOD of this forum , GMOD , Admin etc This topic should be moved to the Technical Support Forum

NightNinja the odds of a password cracker program to work are not very low at all. Most people think their system is secure so they dont bother with complicated passwords. In fact i have gained access to universities such as www.duke.edu with a simple exploit and a password cracker (john the ripper).
Btw i_R_poop, if you havent already, check in the documents and settings folder (C:\documents and settings) to see if your username or any of your files are still there. I think that folder is only on windows xp though.

ok first of all if you have a good hacking site they won't provide you with trojans second of all the odds of cracking the password aren't that low because well.... most people don't have very complicated passwords as pooface said. other then that if your account was deleted then you're screwed but if it was only the password and/or username that was changed/deleted they you can still recover those files. Microsoft will only be able to help you if you still have admin access to that computer or if you have a "password remove" disk to access the admin account if not you're screwed.
BTW this topic is moved to the Tech Support forum.

Hmm it depends on which os you are running, in most cases, it shouldn't be too hard to recover the passwords if you know that if you are not the only one using the computer.
What Pooface said was for Win2k/XP, depending on which oses you run, it may vary.
What NightNinja said about risks of running passwd crackers, I agree with most of it. If you can and know how to protect yourself, the risk would be minimized.
And if you are security tech head like me, think about getting PGP which will make your data secure.

At some point NightNinja said that by formatting your hard disk, it should automatically get rid of all your existing files. Well, that is not correct exactly, due to the fact that there are recovery software tools that offer solutions, such as the ones the FBI and the CAF (Computer Anti-Criminal Force) that use against criminals for fellonies that they have comitted and threats that they might pose. They can even check your mobile phone just to be sure. Anyway, the recovery tools that you are looking for can be found in various locations, but if you want a reliable tool but at a price, then I could suggest R-Studio. It has done wonders for recovering my files. But you might not be wanting something like that.. Look around and see what you find out.

Which makes me think about PGP, if you can secure wipe, it shouldn't be fully recoverable. Although the only main drawback is that it runs on windows, not dos (or only a few older ones which I doubt if they actually have that sort of function) or linux (where it requires compiling and maybe that was older ones as well).

If you do a search in Google for R-Studio you can use a demo & that may work......don't know much about this I know nortons has a recovery program in there new software.....

It shouldn't be fully recoverable, and it isn't.. However, it can be partially recoverable, in the point of it being completely unrecognizable/unreadable.

You can also disable password logging but that is useless. Those pwl files are 'cached' password files. With a program to reveal the password is only for the person who wants to get onto that computer.

Dark Blaze is right, its very easy to recover even files that have been deleted and zeroed (where they make a set number of passes wrighting gibberish over the partition, the more passes the less likely you are going to salvage any data. Just as an example I was using a program I wasn't familiar with and it suddenly modifys the partition and I lost a logical drive with 15 gigs of video footage I had taken while racing my GSXR. I wasn't really thrilled but knew I could recover it using a program I have called EZ Recovery Pro. As long as the drive is operational this program will recover anything off of it that has even been written over several times but the more times the longer it will take also. EZ Recovery has a demo of this program that will show you if the files are there and salvagable but will not recover since its a freebie. This program has saved so many files of of friends, customers and my own drives its incredable. I got every bit of my video off of the formated partition without any noticeable loss of quality, it took 21 hours to recover to another drive (it will not recover to the same drive) but thats nothing compared to the time I had put into some of this footage... And this is a program that they released to the public, not some secret goverment op.
The goverment lab boyz can suposedly recover 99% of data even from drives that have been smashed and burned even if the platters are in pieces they can reassemble the data! Apparently each comp will exibit a sort of individual finger print something like a persons handwriting is unique each pc will have a pattern they can identify (or so I hear) Its a crazy world we live in.....
Herea the link for there free demo of there recovery software its handy to have in case you might ever have a problem then you can at least find out if its worth pursueing it further. http://download.ontrack.com/freedownloads/ertrial.exe the home page is at www.ontrack.com they have all sorts of both demos and free software utilities there.
