View Full Version : Why I Don't Listen to MPC Radio

Personally I don't like radio stations (online or on a real radio). The problem with them is that to have a wide audience, they have to include a wide variety of music types or bands. There're only certain groups or songs that I like. I like having the freedom to listen to the music I like rather than a list of prechosen music that I have basically no control over and may or may not like.

There's almost no point to this topic other than to voice my opinion. :glasses:

why limit yourself to what u think u like? one of the things i like about radio is the diversity of music.
granted they'll play stuff i don't like, but then they'll play something i've never heard before or would never have dreamed of listenin to. ur missin out.
today i was listenin to my favourite jazz station and they played this most amazing funk jazz fusion cover of The Doors Light My Fire. would have missed it if i never listened to the radio - only snag is i missed the bands name so have to tune!

And u do have a choice - switch it off or find another station.

just my opinion ;)

I find internet radio quite entertaining, especially with crazy DJs, hehe... I've never listened to this one, though. Perhaps I will, later.

For instance i play Rock. What do you like?I don't like whole genres. There are good groups and bad groups in each genre.

I just listen to groups with talent. For example I won't listen to a rock song that has a total of three different chords, or a rap song with the same beat over and over. Actually I wouldn't call that music. It's more like poetry (mostly about drugs and cars, though).

I'll listen to almost anything that shows skill from the artists. I only respect people who put effort into their music.

For every one person that doesn't listen to the radio, there are more to take their place.

In any case if you want to have certain bands to listen to, or genre orientated, I suggest you give a list of things you'd be interested in listening to and if we have it, we'll play it.

Having said all that, I too prefer to listen to my own choices, but here's where the good stuff comes in. You can talk to the DJs and ask for the next song to be what you want it to be.

One of the DJs one day was playing a certain type of Rock music that although was nice I just couldn't listen to, so instead I asked for something else to be played, which went on for a few hours (Incubus syndrome for whoever was on those days lol)!

And recently VF was playing some rock music but I wanted to listen to some Trance because it was late at night, as I asked him to put on some Armin Van Buuren... and needless to say I have great music to listen to for the duration of a long night while I was working on my assignment :)

We're here for the community, never forget that. ;)

It's amazing that nobody flamed me here. Typically when I bring up music topics it's all YOUR MUSIC SUCKS and LISTEN TO X BAND OR DIE.

It sounds like making requests on MPC Radio is very easy. Most stations I've listened to just play a pre-made list that you can't change.

Maybe I'll listen to it.

Rap is the same beat over and over with some small changes in the middle. Thats how it is.

Why do you whine about what music is poetry and that the same beat is over and over again... and Blah Blah Blah.. Most music is the same beat over and over again except with Vocals that make it interesting.. Drum n' Bass.. Which i brodacast is a diffrent beat every 5 beats.. Atleast that's how I like it.. And Instead of not listening to the radio and making assumptions why not listen to the radio and find a new type of music that you like and go searching for it to try to find some new artists.

I'm basicly saying that... Life isn't always how you want it to be.. Nothing is.. Ok.. Maybe your playlist.. But if your not listning to the radio why bring it up?

There are some forms of music however, that I cannot stand. Rap would be one of them. Country would be another. I do not want to be diverse and listen to those types of music, as it is my freedom and right not to. Therefore I do not listen to a radio that tries to play music in many different genres like this one.

ApeXX heck even i hate rap, can't stand that nonsense, but i have heard some country music i kinda like. i won't buy the albums but i'll listemn to the radio to hear them when the mood takes me. there are so many stations out there and not all play rap/country. i mainly listen to jazz and all its various forms - so i look for jazz stations. occasionally i'll listen to some indy and rock; such as the doors, nirvana, coldplay, blur etc.

i'm not a big fan of these manufactured bands, so i'll avoid the mainstream radio stations that play them. i don't really care for this dance/trance music, i've heard it and wasn't to my taste. there are some jazz bands i don't like, but i've never have known that if it weren't for the diverse playlists of some radio stations.

So what, who cares about the beat its the lyrics for me not the beat. I don't listen to some rap that just talk about money but poetic rappers like kanye and common and nas I like. Tupac too. :smoke:
