Hmmm... do you by any chance know which hack or trojan you were infected with? knowing more about the problem can assist to the solution.

heh, well now you know, anyhow, there are some few methods to protect your self but looking at some of the coding (eg, using hex) will help you understand what is a 'hacked' sub7 and a real sub7 which both does the same thing but one is less detectable than the other. I PMed the info on how to remove trojans and virii off the pc to Raging Phear.

Try and look for suspicious program running in background. HOW? using Task Manager which is available in Windows 2000 and Windows XP look for a suspicious program name under the processes. If you do not have that tool or if you still cannot find the suspected program, get something like process dumper which is available when you search for it. Use that program and try a deeper search (meaning you have to look for it yourself manually) and look for a suspicious loading file. It could be a dll or a exe. But most likely it will be a exe using a dll to hook onto explorer.exe.

For better protection and finding the virii or the trojan, Use Antivirus to do that job, they do one hell of a good job to try and remove the viruses/trojans.
