i used a multihack in RTCW:ET about 4 months ago, i guess pb got me and i got a global hd ban or something, so i couldnt play ET anymore, i just bought bf2 and installed it, played on a ranked server for about 30 min, and then my game froze and it took me back to the menu and it told me i was globally banned from this game via punkbuster, then it gave some number and letter mixture like 1d351v45 or something. is there any way around this?

seems like the hardware bans have come to roost. i really do think personally that punkbuster banning you from one game should not be able to ban you from another since you haven't been caught doing anything bad in the next game. this is really hardcore punishment. i mean, ALL future games that use punkbuster have banned you? i realize this has been discussed before, but this is somewhat unfair. i realize people hacked in the past, but the punishment should be to ban you from the game you were caught hacking...

You will need to buy some new hardware for your computer to get by the Hardware bann, Or a hardware spoofer which theyr aint any at the moment.

I think its fair that punkbuster banns you from playing in other Punkbuster games, Theyr not banning you from the game, theyr simply banning you from punkbuster games, they couldnt care less if you stop hackin or not you hacked and punkbusters job is to stop hackers. Punkbuster dont lose anything if you dont buy anymore games with Punkbuster enabled.
Your not being banned from the game, simply the Punkbuster feature.

I dont hack because I love hacking, I hack to keep up with everyone, theyr is soo many hackers out theyr whats the point of playing legit when you get owned by hackers.

I would like to add a bit to this PB discussion, like Caliber said "realize this has been discussed before" but as there is alot of "new" guys here and they might not know the score. PB is writing the rules here, if they see fit to HD BAN or CD KEY BAN or whatever, they will do, they will/are reacting fast to any public hack released, this we have seen in the past many many times. So guys again, any hacks used is used at your own risk, there is no such thing as a "SAFE" hack. I suspect as the game gets released world wide we will see how hard PB will punish for different hacks, in the past only files tampering with PB files or active avoidance coding led to CD BAN or HW BAN, but if they will stick to this policy only they know, they could decide to get harder tomorow....we will see.

Well you will soon realize not many people hack on PB servers in the BF series. PB has been really good at limiting the number of hackers. I am not sayying you will never run into people cheating but the odds now are slim. There were points in bf1842/bfvietnam where over 30% of people were cheating. Now I say its around 1% to 3%.

Before AA0 2.4 came out, we had no hax what so ever. PB had us good.
Eventualy it will be like that for bf2, however every new game release or patch etc, PB needs to adjust to the new game/patch, they c how were hackin and they fix it. over and over.

i know the numbers reduced alot, especially after the codecaves were stopped and it became harder to create hacks. still funny how many ppl shout hack when someone is playin well.

aye, flip its an endless cycle. but a good one. think i've learnt more about how software works thru doin this than i ever would from a book.

Its funny, although I realise that the number of hacks had been curtailed somewhat by newer generations of pb, I still thought there were plently of hackers out there (more than the 1-3% spont thinks) and this is what led me to hack (bfv). It only became extremely obvious to me how many hackers there were on the servers I frequented when I began hacking myself. In these servers you could gaurentee that all the top clanners were hacking, as many have said before some of us wouldnt be hacking if there weren't so many hackers out there. IMO there is ony so much skill you can aquire playing these games before it becomes obvious the 'good' players are infact hackers.... thats my rant

I know what you all are saying... I was with the top (clans)and rated bfv player on brtracks for along time and he fed us hacks over and over... And man I never knew how many people hacked until I used one and now its so obviouse... even when im not running one I can tell... I personally was never busted. I havn't had a good hack in awhile thats why I figured on doing myself. I must say I think for the most part I play the same but the challenge has got me hooked... Good time to say thanks to all the exp. hackers in the forums, you know who you are thanks for spreading the wealth... (side note, im not sure but I think spont. used to come to our server..lol pm me ill tell u the server.)

There is a lot less hackers then you think. Many people, including myself, have been playing the bf series since the bf1942 multiplayer demo, which was over 3 years ago. When you been playing the same series of games for so long, you become really good at it. In fact a of clanners are just good at playing the game. The only way you can tell if people are cheating if you watch your minimap and they follow you when your not in sight. Having a really good score does not in any way mean you hack. Granted there use to be a lot of hackers in most servers before Dec '04. Since the new scanning method, very few have developed their cheats to become undetected. I know most of the people that developed their hacks to an undetected level. Maybe 0.5% of the people knew how to make undetected hacks until mcMike released his SEH tut/example. Then some people figured that all out. I am telling you that at the very max, only 5% of the people playing on PB servers in BF1942/BFVietnam are cheating. Now thats at the very max and thats being nice. You have to remember I was one of the major players releasing PB proof hacks for the better part of 8 monthes. No1 else really was releasing PB proof hack. I am most likely the reason why hacking got out of control in the BF series in the past. I know I am one of the reasons why PB went to their current scanning method of scanning the whole exe. I am really one of the best people to judge on how many people currently cheat. There is 351 players online playing BFVietnam PB servers. Of that 351, I am willing to bet only 10 of them are cheating.

As for coming to your server, I hardly ever played as Spontaneous in the last year. Pretty much the only time I played as spontaneous was when I was in Global Hunters or Section 8. Once them clans died, the ingame name of Spontaneous died. There were a couple people using the name Spontaneous sayying they were me but it in fact was not me. I had some people say I was in their clan in the past even, which I was never in.

i agree to some degree spon. i can see with my own map hack who is cheating and it is alot less than you think. i would personally go after the best scorers on the other team to see if they could see me coming and stuff and they wouldn't. you can actually watch their tactics and stuff and learn from them. some really good players are just really good and they get to know certain weapons and vehicles so well that they are devastating in them.\

I've got to say I never accused spont of anything other than his 'statistics' for hackers being conservative! I doubt I've played in a server with him (or any of you for that matter!), seeing as I only frequent Australian servers ;) I agree with cal on that some people know the weapons well (the sweet spots to hit other vehicles etc). But I'm not accusing those players, I'm only accusing map hackers. Because I hack, I can see who hacks! I've made sure I've never been obvious and therefore have only been accused of hacking a handful of times over the last three months, but some others forget that big brother is watching, so whilst they are off hunting the noob camping in the corner (or afk) I'm watching whats going on lol!

*Edit* BTW I do accuse spont of hacking aswell :P

for ME to get the highest score of all the players, there's no way that i can play the game without being real obvious about knowing where the enemy is with my maphack to someone who also has a maphack. if you had a maphack and noticed that i was the leading scorer, you'd see that i was going after all the other players like i had a maphack, too. for instance, following your movements even though you were on the other side of a building or hill or obviously finding the path to avoid a large group nearby that would squash me. anyways, some of the players who make these high scores are just that good. i can watch them and they just are agressive and know how to handle situations in a smart way and use the vehicles and weapons to their advantage. alot of them also have very low ping and sometimes they work in groups (clans) to make their scores and advantages better. they will run right by me or not know that i am about to cap them so i really think that they don't have hacks because even if they were trying to avoid being caught with a hack (if they had one), they surely don't want to just let me kill them over and over. sometimes i will do that, just concentrate on the clan guys that are doing real well just for fun. my score might be lower than normal, but all my kills are against these guys and it affects their tactics and kind of messes with their minds. anyways, this has gotten off topic i think?

start a new topic and tell us what tools you have and what you have done so far and what help you need or where you are stuck and we will try to help you along as far as we can. maybe this will help others and i won't get 15 people pm me the same questions. glad to help and i hope this doesn't sound like i don't want to help-
