Just lke the topic asks, Is that possible, or do you get the message only sometime after you exit the game?

Thats what Im wondering...

I almost joined A vac 2 secure server with HLH but I was lucky to cancel it and stuff. I would most likely say in the game because the admins have logs that say stuff like:

Steam0:0334542 has been banned ... blah blah blah..

So I think in the game but Im not quiet sure.

Steam bans are not instant but delayed. Usually delayed 48 hours to a whole week.

as accordingly to VALVe or Steam, they SHOULD be doing connectivity tests but they're banning as well

thus, sometimes VAC2 may truly be just testing out their connectivity and not banning, but sometimes banning, sad :(

I have been using HLH cheats while playing local css bots and of course am not having any banning problems. But, if I ever do, I will never buy another valve game, since I am not disturbing anyone. I have found so many free css custom maps out there, that are so much more fun then alot of the standard maps you see on secure/unsecure servers. And, I am my own admin. In my opinion, abusive admins and/or abusive/cheating admins and their allowed cheaters are more reason to play local then all detections including VAC2. And, to add, I did once get banned by VAC along time ago in a very early release of Counter Strike and I never knew how to cheat, honest. I vowed then, never to buy Valve again, but this time I mean it.....

This made me think, i read on the Steam forums that it only checks for cheats while you are NOT playing.. maybe like joining a server or system idle or something? but wouldent it be possible maybe to make something that injects the hacks while playing in the middle of a game in the server online and end the hack process before you leave the server meaning VAC wont have detected you.. or have i got the wrong end of the stick? :)

VAC2 probley works like punkbuster. Your client starts scanning for cheats on your computer. Not the server. If your client finds the cheats than it tells the master server that hey I found cheats on this guys computer. Than the master server relays your steam ID to all the VAC servers that you are banned. Most of the cheat checking goes on during loading but its possible that it does some scanning while your playing. But since cheats can only inject when the game is loading its my bet that it just scans while your loading/connecting.

My opinion: Some servers ban because there they have special admins (from valve?) and/or are recording demos so they can test the scanning routines of VAC so bans are verified (also a possibility for delayed bans - they first watch the demos).

So, as a request: When writing "I´m banned..." please add the server name, where you got banned.

probably is Steam/Valve will get a whole list of cheaters' STEAMID, and maybe everyday/week at 12midnight , they update the VAC2 cheater's log and they are banned

as said, somepeople got banned 2 weeks after cheating or something, dont think its possible to know which server u got caught on
