So you want to be a DJ on MPC radio?

Okay well it's all quite simple there are only a few requirements you must fulfill:

1. You MUST have at least 15 posts on MPC (for security reasons).

2. You must have some type of broadband internet connection (streaming through a 56k modem will not work, I’m sorry but that’s how it is, nothing against anyone with a 56k modem, it’s just impossible to stream with a dial-up connection).

3. You must be willing to stay in our radio channel on IRC ( #mpcradio on irc.rizon.net) during your broadcasts, unless you have arranged prior to your broadcast that you will not be in there.

4. You must have some music of your own on your computer (duh!).

5. You must be willing to try and work out bugs for yourself if something isn’t quite streaming right. I and the other DJs will be happy to help but we will NOT set up everything for you ourselves.

If you meet all of these requirements send me a Private Message and I will contact you with the server details you will require ASAP.

Now some more info:

- A microphone is nice to have since then the broadcasts can have a bit of human intervention but it is not mandatory.
- You may stream any type of music you want as long as it is not racist, fascist, etc.
- MPC forum rules still apply, so… no warez, no flaming anyone, no racist remarks, etc.
- Don’t be a cry-baby if someone is already broadcasting when you want to, just wait till they’re done and start your show, or try another time.
- This is supposed to be fun, if you decide on doing this have fun with it, and your listeners will have fun as well.

I have no idea if the built in radio player works fine with firefox or not, if it doesn't just click on a link in my sig corresponding to the media player you have.

music does not have to be in english, music is music, as long as it's not racist, fascist, etc. it's fine.

I would recommend more than 128 kbps for uploading if you wanna stream correctly.I got buffering problems sometimes.

I like various kinds of music... In fact I have a couple of Portuguese and Indian and Chinese friends that have given me some great CDs to listen to and I've also bought a few in my travels, that people have enjoyed listening to.

As long as it's good to listen to, they'll love it :)

Also, make sure to add the Radio signatures like we have in your signature. It helps get more peeps in it ;)

5) Truthfully, I got about 10 songs on my PC since I reformmated, but I have an active Napster subscription and can stream WMA files with the appropriate licenses. So I can download songs when I need them... I can get 1 song in less than 2 minutes.

I'm a master at fixing stuff i dunno what went wrong with..

I can promise alot of fun for anybody listening to me!
(Also my computer is able to be directly connected, better upload, and it has nice specs so no lag from me :D )

there is actually a bigger audience for trance/hip-hop and electronica than most people think, there was one radio station i used to listen to in the matrix online and they were a regular station that at times could get up in to the 500+ range on busy days playing trance and stuff. the least i have ever seen on that station is about 130 too so once you get your stations name out there you can get an audience for any type of music

im err Super intrested as it were, i was a DJ for now a dead radio station called UniCast.
we failed to advertise properly and lost listenrs, then time ran out,
so i gave expirience,
i got a good upload, a mic, i usually stream at 92kps stereo(i think) so if i get any requests, can download the song without creating lagg,
as for the post requirements, i lost the username and password to my old account but im sure i'll get the posts up soon.

the software i use is known as Virtual DJ (or as i call it, "Vert"
it has the shoutcast plugin built into it (yet it cant display current song)
i will look into sam again, i didnt like it much before as it always wanted a database, i not 1 to connect to, hmmmm

I would not recommend using Winamp, because it doesn't have so many options.
Try SAM or Virtual DJ instead, it will give you more options and therefor better broadcasts ;)...

Especially now with HSC coming along. I've got some real good tracks that are made by unsigned artists including myself. Many from Download.com or from various other unsigned artist sites. I'm still only an amateur but until my friend returns my freakin CD with Dance eJay 7 (alot more like FL now but alot more easier to use) i can't make any new ones.

Ok, x-syter: a few things i have to tell you.

1. Read the first post, you have to have at least 25 posts to stream, for example...
2. Every DJ has his own style, not all DJs are as advanced. I, for example, have years experience with Virtual DJ, i'm an advanced user and i can mix very good. Let DJ's DJ the way they like it.
3. You don't go around calling everybody kids... You don't tell everyone they suck. You have heard one DJ on the radio, maybe there's others that you might like...
4. Virtual DJ does certainly NOT suck.

I'm new on this hacking thingy, and new to this forum. But definitely not new to online DJ-ing. I have been an online DJ for quite some time on a few of Habbos Fansites. I am very willing to give it a try for MPC forum as it states that, "it is just for the fun of it". The reason i stop DJ-ing on those Habbo Fansites is because they demand you to DJ on time slot and daily or in routine.

Erm, i don't have 25 post yet, but soon, there will be cause you will be reading all my post all over MSEA thread. I am a Singaporean. So if i am to DJ in the MPC radio. I would most likely be playing Chinese songs suited for Singaporeans' teenagers. Yeap.

DJ's stream live. An upload speed of 128kbps should be enough. I recommend 256kbps tho. Most "modern" internet connections easily get to 256 :).

Hey, I'd happily work as a DJ on the forum. I don't know that much about the programs, but I pick that stuff up easily and quickly (shout cast server). I also know of a program called virtural DJ, which would allow me to create mixes too. Let me know what you think, I would be mostly aviable in weekday afternoons and nights (EST) and weekends too. I fit all of the requirements, and I am always listening to the DJ channel when they are on. I am also registered on the IRC and will have no problem being on the IRC while I am working.
