It's a real indictment on the arrogance of Valve. Time taken to release DOD source has been totally unacceptable and has no doubt done irrepairable damage to Valve's reputation. Yes they started the project from scratch etc etc. But it was close to a year ago they sold us silver and gold packages saying DOD source coming soon. Well 1 year is very far from soon so as a consumer I feel ripped off.
Anyway I'm playing BF2 which seriously kicks ass on any game valve is ever likely to release. I know I will never purchase a game from Valve again.
Just my 2 cents worth :)

CS: S Graphics are nothing special at all. DOD: S is somthing new, somthing fresh imo. I play DOD still. Gameplay far much better than source. Can't wait for it :)

seeing that the VALVe team took more than 7 months from CS:S's release(and still counting) to make dod:s, hope that its much better than the dod1

pfft sif better then dod:S, Dude the hitboxs on CSS are so stupid there is a video you can get that shows them, and how they actually sway left to right, where you can shoot a few cms back from the head and still hit them, its lame. Day of Defeat as never had this problem. Conclusion Day of Defeat Source Will SHIT! on Counter strike Source..
and yes i do play CSS and enjoy it.

Day of Defeat: Source should be an incredible game by the looks of it. In fact, I heard that Valve might not even name it with the DoD tag because it is so different from the original DoD. Counter Strike Source is getting old anyway, and long live World War II FPS.

ya..totally agreeable i just hope the servers dont have vac2....... 2 bad: ALL Steam games(including mods i think) have VAC2 on default :(
think CS:S will still remain better than DOD:S(seeing that there're so much ww2 games out, eg bf2, mohaa+mod...)

i don't see Counter Strike Changing in anyway, CS is CS really its a different kinda game, there no game like CS unless its HL mod, Day of Defeat is VERY Different too Counterstrike regardless of what people say i can name a few things, for instance Stamina, you can only run for so long. and when you fire your heavy machine gun you lost stamina. The hitboxes are much better in comparison to CS. i dont hate CS dont think i do, i just think that dod is much better, remember "The People Ruin Counter-Strike!" The game is good.

It seems that it will indeed be out this september the romours of it being out on the 1st of september because the date of WW2 was Very wrong! Valve does although also claim that they will be equipping it with the new HDR Technology! to make the game look more vibrant! there was an interview with Gabe Newall (Founder of Valve) where he showed off some DoD: S footage The interview is too large to attach and i dont have a direct link so i apolgise but if you check out www.1up.com you might find it around.

Day of Defeat source nears
When it's done to September release
By Aaron McKenna: Monday 05 September 2005, 20:14
VALVE has said that the much anticipated Day of Defeat Source will be hitting our PCs before September is out.
The much delayed port of the Half-Life World War II mod has been on a “Done When It’s Done” release date since Half-Life 2 hit shelves. Progress has been steady from the team which doesn’t quite have the amazing resources behind it as the Counter-Strike Source team, though ironically this has meant that the anticipation of DoD Source has far outstripped news of CS Source.
As with Half-Life 2 those who pre-pay will be able to preload the files for the game off of Steam from about a week before the game is released for play. This means that pre-ordered copies will simply be unlocked on the morning of release rather than users having to wait for the game to download from bulging servers.
The game will be available as an individual purchase via Steam, as well as part of the Counter-Strike: Source retail package that will be available at stores around the same time. Half-Life 2: Silver and Gold package customers will automatically be able to play
So close, it's almost here!
