Lets say...

I thought about it today in sociology... what if we see/process different colors, but we think they are the same. For example, Green to me, might look red to you, but we were raised to learn that the color green to us is green, no matter what, and there is no way of proving that your green in my red, or your red is my blue, ect. For all we know is that your house color could be your tan, but my red, thus i think it looks ugly.. Any comments?

lol, thought of that some day as well, but concluded that this can't be true. Colors = a certain frequency of light that's being reflected. And we know how the human eye picks them up: and it does that in the same way for every human: red, green, blue, etc.

That's why we can also know that some dogs can only see black/white: by examining the functioning of their eyes.

1st off, dogs can see in colors, but the colors are very dull. Secondly, obviously
Our eyes pick up the light, but do our brains process them the same.

spent many a nights thinking about this.... what if our brains are just ****ing with us. I mean it's pretty easy to prove that VR simulations can trick our brains pretty well, what is to say that our brains aren't a giant VR simulator. I mean if they process everything differently I might be typing "blargh blob plop zoob" right now according to someone else's perception but since they expect me to type that their brain just interprets it as something that looks and sounds like meaningful words to them....

Oh well, the point I was trying to make was about how we can determine how animals see things. Anyway, hadn't thought about how our brains process the information from our eyes!

Yeah, and I also thought of something so extreme it can't be true, but if we process completely different sight, hearing, touch, smells, and taste.. kind of like what l7j said, about the Blargh blob ect.

philosophy isn't completely useless.... granted it won't pay your bills but it does help to "train" your brain, sort of like you would go to the gym to train your muscles, thinking and solving problems helps train your brain.

Now of course you can do that with something structured such as math problems, or real life problems and try to solve them, but at the same time you can use philosophy. If you are able to control your brain enough during this then philosophy works just as well as a structured problem. Sure it is a lot more open ended than say a math problem but if you actually are able to think about it and come up with theories rather than just saying the first thing that pops into your head then it is very good practice for your brain.
