serious apache problem

ok... a buddy of mine came to me for some help with bypassing MS and when he has to type in the stuff for apache (the part of the install with the 3 spots that ya gotta fill in unless its autofilled) it isnt filled in, and when we go to look for where his dns suffix part is in cmd using ipconfig /all(mine being cg.shawcable.net and it shows up on my comp) it shows nothing... it shows nothing in the DNS Suffix Search List, nor the Connection-Specific DNS Suffix... any help?
he's on DSL through AOL without a router
