Can some give a little help on abyss webserver

I tried to help my friend with the abyss web server. Somehow the message keep saying cannot listen to port just like this
"Abyss Web Server X1 (v 2.3.2)

-- Default host on port 80 has a listening problem (Local URL http://127.0.0.1)
Console local URL: http://127.0.0.1:9999"
does any1 know how to fix this problem, i told her to do everything that was asked in the tutorial. Like put the nprotect inside htdocs and replace the host file.
this is the portion inside her host file
x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 gameguard.mapleglobal.com
127.0.0.1 72.5.148.122
can some1 help please?
