So anyway I downloaded pp-lite to check it out ....
Found some suspicious text strings, didn't try to packet log it or anything so I'm not 100% if the logger is enabled or not... you can chance it. |

I don't have to guess homie, I already checked into it, you wouldn't have been caught if you woulda read my old post on how to tell if a cheat is logged. Mase prolly did and I'm guessing it only connects on match nights or something similar and that is why he is inviting people to packet log it.

No, they don't. Sometimes the loader may not inject the dll into the game. Make sure the loader (.exe) and the .dll are in the same folder and the loader is open when you launch the game. You will know if it is injected cause when the game loads it will flash the console on and off and have a loaded message inside.

I have used pp-lite for a while now and i havent been caught or banned and i have played in league matches and publics alike. From a personal perspective, I think if Mase's intent was a malicious one, I would have been banned a long time ago along with the majority of the other pp-lite users I know. With regards to the reports of being able to be found out by admins watching your demos, **** it, i dont make demos anyway, so basically they can blow me.
With regard to this new prog from v3in, I would be inclined to be more suspicious of a prog that injects into HL, but what the **** do i know :s. I just think its a sad state of affairs that any of the hacks should be logged, i think for people to go to all that effort to catch cheaters and ruin a bit of harmless fun, suggests that they seriously need to get out more, get laid and maybe drink a few beers with his pals (if he has any), because they are clearly taking the game far too seriously, if people wanna cheat, ****ing let them! Myg0t have got the right ethos, if people get enraged by cheaters, then they are clearly sad ****s. thats the end of my rant, I bet you are ALL relieved. |

PP kinda does the same thing but it's an opengl wrapper, both cheats hook the opengl functions and use pointers to access the games engine functions. pp also hooks the client functions. I chose to use a hybrid because it dosn't require you to mess with any files in your steam folder and I think its just easier to use. There is no difference in the risks you take executing someone elses code, .dll or .exe. Now you can reduce these risks with some free programs. The suspicious text strings I found in pp-lite using a debugger/disasmebler called ollydbg. Even if the strings are encrypted you can ussualy still read them by loading the cheat and starting your own passworded game(leagues wont ban you for this unless your playing a match with somebody) then attaching the debugger to hl.exe and looking through the opengl32.dll module or DEWS.dll module in my cheats case. I posted a thread a while back on more methods to tell if a cheat is logged if anyone wants to search for it and read it. |
