MAGE GUIDE, very useful

Magician Skills Levels 1 – 30 v.2.0

(((this has been posted before so if u read it once, dont read it unless you want to revise ^^)))

look for happy faces for new areas if u have read guide already!:

When beginning a magician character it is important to have the right skills. When creating a character you choose appearance and attire, but more important you roll the dice to determine how your stats first come out. Roll dice until desired stats:
4-5 Strength
4-5 Dexterity
10-12 Intelligence
5-8 Luk (it’s essential to have at least 5 stats in Luk)

Put stats/skill points into where chart has directed:

REMEMBER: once a magician, there is no turning back. You cannot choose another job and if you have followed my chart you shouldn’t want to be anything except a wizard.

Once level 8, journey to Ellia unless you are already there. The creatures (pixies and pixies) at Ellia won’t even acknowledge you until you get a bit stronger so try not to stop and chat with people. Once in Ellia climb ropes and walk upwards until you are at the very top. There should be a building there, go inside. This is where Hines resides, a powerful wizard who gives out the job magician. Talk to Hines and he will tell you a little about a wizard and ask if you are interested in becoming one. When you have decided you would like to become a wizard, Hines will give you a bit of mp and power. Press “k” your skill book should appear and Hines should have given you one skill point shortly after becoming a wizard.

Tip: it is a good idea to leech exp from stronger players. Another way to leech a lot of exp. is having a large party train because a lot of novice players cannot leech much exp maybe 1 or 2 at a time it is a good idea to have a lot of people training so when you are a higher level you could leech more and train on your own.

Tip: I suggest leaching exp until level thirteen because at level thirteen you finally can use a magician skill (energy bolt) and train on your own or you can still party. By level 13 your intelligence should be around 70-72 at this point you should be able to kill monsters level three and below in one hit, and have a range of damage from 10-50.

Note: never put any stats in HP or MP, they automatically go up every time you level up.




At level 35 I recommend putting some more stats into Luk because you will want to use the item Matty, which comes in a variety of colors including red, brown, blue, and green. For international version I hear all the Luk you’ll ever need is 43, so I recommend after receiving 43 Luk put the rest of your skills in Intelligence, but you won’t need 43 Luk until level 40, where you could where a stronger wizard clothes.

Q: Why do I not add skills during levels two through seven?
A: During levels, two through seven skills are not an option because you cannot get a job until level eight. You can only learn skills during your second job.

Q: Instead of wasting time putting skills in magic armor why don’t I just max magic guard.
A: Magic guard is mostly for wizards, as you progress into a cleric you find magic guard is a waste of mp and that instead of losing life you lose a lot of mp, which you of course want a lot of.

Q: Why does your chart only go up to level 30?
A: It’s simple, once level 30 you will be able to advance into wizards of three types, rather then making this longer then I have to, I want to end this guide shortly, but maybe I’ll write version two and have info. on the other types of magicians.

Um this didnt work for me....
I put in Energy Bolt first and then MAX MP increase.
Then Magic claw then MP recovery
This has benn working for me very well
One Day i Leveld up 5 times in a row lvl 10-15
i could Also Kill horny mushys at lvl 15

my way is better... but indeed it takes a lot more work...

i had to wait 2 days before i reached level 13... but its work it

all mages will envy the the amount of mp you have... eventually the mp difference range goes pretty high... but as a noob that slight change wont matter...

nice guide there for building a good mage.

but magic armour is only useful against lowbie or maybe some mid level monsters.
when ur lv is higher and fighting highbie monsters, 40 def is nothing.

with magic guard, mana pool of 3000+++ becomes ur life since mana absorbs the dmg.
yeah its costly, but once ur facing 700+ dmg u'll know the difference magic guard and armour .

ya thats how i made my mage XD very good i made 4 mages that way.
(fire=lvl36 lighting=42 healer=34 and my new mage is lvl 24) XD

my advice as a lvl 40 cleric is do not use magic armour, in higher levels they do absolutely nothing, maybe takes off 1 or 2 damage points dats it. TRUST ME PEOPLE DONT USE MAGIC ARMOUR. IM TALKING FROM EXPERIENCE. Instead, max our magic guard. if u haf magic guard maxed, it means that u only receive 20% of the damage dat u incur from monsters, and the rest goes to ur mp. IT is IMPOSSIBLE to kill higher lvl monsters without magic guard. Simply because you will die in one hit. MAGIC GUARD IS IMPERATIVe. That is my advice for the day. Please heed it and don't follow the guide that says to lvl up magic armour. And make the same mistake i did. Thank you. have a nice day :o

I would have to agree with Moulinfly, Magic guard IMO is better for those who wishes to continue the game until high levels, if you think that u're going to quit when u're at lvl 40ish, get magic armor, because monsters will do a lot less damage to you. Magic guard, is for mages that intend to go all the way, Mages' weak armor + low hp will certainly be the limiting factor for mage, especially for those w/o magic guard. With magic guard, you can take damage with MP, so at high levels, its like recovering HP while u're moving and attacking. For that comment by unrealremix about that cleric does not need MG, it is wrong. Everybody will admit, Heal is a great skill for solo and party, but the thing is, how fast can you cast it? will it prevent 1 hit kills? the answer is...... it is slow, and it will not prevent 1 hit kills. MA (Magic Armor) will not prevent 1 hit kills in later levels, it will most likely make the monster deal ~50 less damage to you.... Heal is slow, and you stop when you cast it, making you immobile, so you can get a 2nd hit while u're standing there casting heal, and u'll be dead before you know it. I've seen it happen a lot. Also, with the new patch, silence/seal is inplaced, when silenced/sealed, you cannot use anymore magic, making cleric a road kill...... w/o heal to protect urself, and taking 100% damage......

and now for.... "my way is better... This is arguable, different people have different opinions, so your way might only seem better to you, so don't post useless comments like that.

And as for the 2nd quote, mages certainly will not envy the high amount of mp you have if they know that you don't have MG, they'll just point and laugh at you. The point of having a hugh MP is to take hits since mage has minimal HP, w/o MG, a high MP is just useless, it does not do anything, since you still require potion to heal MP when u're constantly killing monsters. All it means is that you will need a lot more MP potion because you are constantly healing yourself every 3 second after taking a hit (assuming that u're not already dead, and the fact that u're a cleric) because u're afraid of dying and losing that hard earned xp....

this guide is bugged.. especially the magic armor. lol... hmm btw do u knoe how much tauro deal to u when hes angry? 1.5k dude.. thats like 3000% more..
and 20% of 1.5 k is 300 damage.. and my mage is ard 500+ hp.. withought magic guard u gonna get ur ass kicked man.. even mushmom deals 700+ damage.. you.ll be so dead if u follow his guide..

magic armor is a waste of SP, why would you want to put your SP there? cuz im a lvl 60+ cleric and max bless give you +20 weapon def. and since you can't overlap SP, rather your bless or magic armor is gona get canceled. oh and for those who think magic armor is worth gettin.... then good luck fighting jr balrog. he does 2k+ dmg so you won't have have a chance. my hp is at 700+, so without magic guard 1 hit KO

Imo, magic guard is useless for a hp cleric. I boost hp for my cleric so it is basically a support cleric with close to 2k hp and max bless, invincible, heal and mp eater with no pts in holy arrow. I dun add too much to wi as cleric dmg is lousy no matter how many pts u add to it and so i rather add it to hp so it can group with other class and not fear being killed without using magic guard.

haha the classic debate of magic armour vs magic guard.

this issue to me is about staying alive while being cost effective.

maybe if we want to ensure tht nothing goes wrong, we'll tell a mage whos new to the game to max out magicguard. nothing to lose.

other wise its for the more experienced longterm players who might wanna find a cost effective formula by balancing between this 2 skills with a ratio.

roughly
a 1000 hp potion costs 1000 meso ++
a 1000 mana potion costs 2000 meso ++

wif magicguard, dmg to mana costs twice as much, compared to hp.

have to find out whats ur mana pool according to ur skill pts allocation.
if ur able to stay fight smoothly wif magic guard at its minimal lv, no matter with potions or heal, ur saving lots of meso.

nothing is right or wrong. it can be a meso issue or relaxing brainless playing issue.
just pump according to ur style of playing, something ur comfortable with.
